Howard Bandy
Scaling out as an exit technique
AT-September 2009-1
Analyzing how scaling out of trades and moving stops to breakeven impacts a simple trading technique.
Price: $4.25

Detailed Description

Scaling out sounds like a good idea: When a trade is profitable, sell a portion of the position, take some profit, perhaps move the stop to prevent a loss, and stay in the remainder of the trade, risk free. Whether or not the concept holds up in testing is another matter.

An analysis of scale-in techniques will appear in an upcoming issue of Active Trader. Let’s look now at the other side of this coin — scaling out of trades.
