There's been a lot of talk lately about speculators in the crude oil market. It takes more than a little digging to find some useful numbers — but the eventual implications are interesting.

Detailed Description
Crude oil prices have risen steadily all year, and Congress wonders why. When Congressmen wonder, they hold hearings — at last count 40 inquiries, nine just in June — as to why the price of crude oil continued to rise. And despite the mid-July pullback in crude, the price of crude oil continued its inexorable upward march.
